Best Bangalore To Kinnaur Tour Packages Curated By Experts
Best Kinnaur Tour Packages from Bangalore — A Different Mountain from the Western Ghats
Bangalore is further from the Himalayas than most North Indian cities, but it is also better connected than people realise. A direct flight to Chandigarh takes about three hours. From Chandigarh, a day's drive through the mountains puts you inside the valley. By the second morning of your trip, you can wake up by the Baspa river.
If you know Coorg and Chikmagalur, you know green mountains. Kinnaur is a different kind entirely. The Western Ghats are lush and compact. Kinnaur is wide, open and dry, with valleys that stretch to the horizon and peaks that stand at over 6,000 metres. Apple orchards instead of coffee estates. Stone and slate villages instead of plantation bungalows. A sacred mountain range instead of a rolling hilltop.
For a Bangalore traveller with six or more days of leave, Kinnaur is one of the most rewarding Himalayan trips you can take.
The most balanced short format. You fly in, enter the valley the next day, spend proper time at the core stops, and return with margin before your flight home. Covers core Kinnaur without strain.
Adds Sarahan and the Bhimakali temple, gives you more breathing room at each stop, and keeps a buffer day. The version we recommend for families and anyone who wants the valley at its most relaxed.
For travellers who want the landscape to shift from green valley to dry, high country. Core Kinnaur plus Nako and its lake. Suits experienced travellers and photography enthusiasts.
The full circuit. Through Kinnaur into Spiti via Nako and Tabo, time around Kaza and the high villages. The most complete Himalayan journey from south India.
Bangalore is a city of weekend trekkers, long weekend planners and annual leave optimisers. Coorg, Chikmagalur, Hampi and Goa cover the short trips. For the longer ones, Ladakh, Kashmir and Manali are the usual picks.
Kinnaur is the trip almost nobody from Bangalore has done, and almost everyone who does it wishes they had done it sooner. It is not an extreme adventure and it is not a crowded tourist circuit. It is a wide, green valley in the western Himalayas where apple orchards cover every slope, rivers run through broad landscapes, and villages built in stone and slate have stood for centuries.
A direct flight from Bangalore to Chandigarh takes about three hours. From Chandigarh, one day's drive puts you inside the valley. That makes Kinnaur reachable in a six or seven day leave window, far more manageable than a Ladakh trip that needs ten days minimum.
For photography enthusiasts, and Bangalore has many, Kinnaur in October is extraordinary. Clear skies, autumn colour in the orchards, sharp light on the peaks.
Core Kinnaur has no high mountain pass on its main route. The road stays open most of the year. The altitude is moderate. There is no complicated permit process. It is a real Himalayan experience without the harder logistics.
Fly to Chandigarh. IndiGo and Air India operate direct flights from Bangalore. The flight takes about three hours. From Chandigarh, a private cab takes you through Shimla and Narkanda into Kinnaur. This is the fastest route.
Fly to Delhi. More flight options and often lower fares. About two and a half hours. From Delhi, fly onward to Chandigarh or continue by road toward Shimla.
After landing, the mountain leg begins. We coordinate the vehicle from the moment you arrive.
Chandigarh to Shimla about 120 km, three to four hours. Shimla to Narkanda about 65 km through apple country. Narkanda to Rampur about 55 km descending toward the Sutlej. Rampur to Sarahan about 40 km climbing to the gateway of Kinnaur. Sarahan to Sangla around 95 km through Karcham into the Baspa valley. Sangla to Chitkul about 25 km. Sangla to Kalpa about 40 km. Return to Chandigarh about 350 km with a night halt.
From Bangalore, the journey unfolds across a day and a half. You fly, you drive, you halt, and you wake up in a valley that looks nothing like the Western Ghats.
We are based in Himachal, and we plan trips for travellers flying in from across the country.
We plan from your flight. Realistic driving hours. Honest duration guidance. Good stays personally checked with decent food. Local drivers who know the valley. Season based planning around monsoon risk, autumn windows and winter conditions. Flexible support when roads change. One plan from Bangalore to Bangalore.
Time zone: Indian Standard Time (IST), UTC+5:30.
Currency: Indian Rupee (INR). ATMs scarce inside Kinnaur. Carry enough cash from Chandigarh or Shimla.
Languages: Hindi widely spoken. Kinnauri locally. English understood at tourist-facing stays.
Flights: Bangalore to Chandigarh direct, about 3 hours. Bangalore to Delhi about 2.5 hours.
Mobile network: patchy deeper into Kinnaur. BSNL and Airtel work better than Jio.
Permits: Indian nationals do not need a permit for core Kinnaur. Inner Line Permit only beyond Sumdo toward Spiti.
Food: Mostly North Indian vegetarian. Dal, rajma chawal, roti, seasonal vegetables. Some places serve eggs, chicken and Tibetan dishes. Different from south Indian food, but wholesome and filling. Carry comfort snacks if you want something familiar on the road.
Four working days plus a weekend gives you six days. Five working days gives you seven. Add a long weekend and you gain a day.
Six to seven days for a comfortable core trip including travel days. Eight for the full valley. Nine to ten for Nako or Spiti. The seven day format is the safest starting point for most Bangalore travellers.
Core Kinnaur has no high mountain pass. The altitude is moderate. Bangalore's climate is moderate, but Kinnaur's mountain nights can drop to single digits even in summer. Give yourself a proper halt after landing. For families and older travellers, a seven day plan works well. Core Kinnaur is a gentler choice than Ladakh for Bangalore travellers who want fewer leave days and less altitude risk.

If you know the Western Ghats, Kinnaur is a different kind of mountain entirely. Wide valleys instead of compact ghats, apple orchards instead of coffee estates, and the Kinner Kailash range at over 6,000 metres instead of rolling hilltops. For a Bangalore traveller, these are the places that make the three-hour flight worthwhile.

A quiet halt in the apple belt, 65 km past Shimla. Cool air and forest. A world away from Bangalore's traffic.

The gateway to Kinnaur. Terraced fields, old houses and the first real sense of being in deeper mountain country.

The old wooden temple at Sarahan, counted among the 51 Shakti Peeths. Carved wood, stone courtyards and mountain views.

A broad, green valley along the Baspa river. Stone villages, terraced farming and forested slopes.

An old fortified structure above Sangla. Worth the short walk.

A small village between Sangla and Chitkul, among fields and the river.

The last inhabited village before the border. Baspa river, barley fields, slate roofed houses and snow peaks. The emotional high point.

The river that shapes the Sangla valley. After Bangalore's pace, the quiet beside the river is deeply welcome.

Above Reckong Peo with direct views of the Kinner Kailash range. Apple orchards, old temples and a calm pace.

A short walk from Kalpa through orchards to a quiet village with a well known viewpoint.

The range catching first and last light is the visual high point of any Kinnaur trip.

If your trip extends beyond core Kinnaur, a high village beside a small lake where the landscape changes.

A monastery more than a thousand years old with murals of genuine weight.
The best things to do on a Bangalore to Kinnaur trip are not tourist activities. They are sunrise over a sacred peak, an afternoon by a cold river, apple orchards you can walk into, and the slow realisation that these mountains are nothing like the Western Ghats you know. For a Bangalore traveller, these contrasts are the entire point of crossing the country.

Walk by the river, visit the villages, and let the landscape settle you.

Walk the last village, sit by the Baspa, and feel the stillness.

First light on the sacred range is worth the flight across the country.

After Bangalore's pace, the quiet beside the river is deeply welcome.

Old wood, stone courtyards and mountain air.

Short walks through orchards and stone paths are some of the best hours.

Kinnaur's light, textures and scale reward a good camera and a slow pace. October light is exceptional.

The trip becomes a circuit instead of a valley visit.

“Travel Coffee truly went above and beyond. Even though we booked from Indonesia without meeting them, we always felt secure — their team was available 24/7 and took care of every detail. Shubham personally ensured our comfort throughout the Himachal trip, from hotel checks to small gestures like bringing lotion and altitude pills. Their sincerity and local expertise made the journey unforgettable.”
