- Sangla is at around 2,621 metres, Chitkul at 3,450 metres, Kalpa at 2,759 metres. Carry warm layers even outside winter
- Mobile network can be patchy in Kinnaur. Carry cash as ATMs are limited beyond Shimla
- Carry valid ID proof. Kinnaur has notified belts where checks apply
- In deep winter the Sangla to Chitkul road is usually snow-blocked, roughly mid-December to March, and Chitkul's stays largely shut. On winter dates Chitkul and Sangla are attempted only if the road is open that day; if it is closed, the time is spent around Kalpa and Reckong Peo
- Expect sub-zero temperatures, sharply so at night. Kalpa and the higher Baspa Valley can fall well below freezing from December to February. Carry thermals, heavy woollens, a windproof jacket, gloves, a warm cap, and insulated waterproof shoes for snow
- Winter travel runs on daily road status. Fresh snow can briefly close stretches around Narkanda, Shimla, and above Reckong Peo, so keep a buffer day and flexible onward tickets from Delhi
- Homestays and guesthouses have limited heating and timed hot water in winter. Room heaters, where available, are usually chargeable
- Days start early and drives are paced for safety, since daylight is short and snow slows the roads. On snow days a sturdier vehicle with chains may be used and the route adjusted

Why overnight Volvo instead of driving?
Delhi to Sangla is too far for one comfortable day. The Volvo to Shimla means you sleep on the bus and arrive rested. Then you drive into Kinnaur fresh.
What vehicle and group size can I expect?
A shared SUV or MUV runs the local driving for the smaller groups, and a Tempo Traveller for the bigger Social and Full batches, based on group size. Groups go from Micro, which is 3 to 5 people, up to a Full batch of 16 to 20. Room sharing is quad by default, with triple and double available.
Do we get a trip captain?
Yes. A trip captain and on ground coordination travel with the group throughout, from Shimla back to Shimla, whatever your batch size.
Is 2 mountain nights enough?
Yes. Day 3 covers Chitkul, Rakcham, Batseri, and Kalpa in one full sightseeing day. Two mountain stays with Volvo on both sides gives you the complete Baspa Valley experience.
What kind of stays?
A mix of warm standard hotels, homestays, and guesthouses depending on the night and location. Expect clean, comfortable rooms with proper bedding and hearty home cooked or hotel meals. Simple but comfortable, and part of the mountain experience.
Is Chitkul always accessible?
Chitkul is reliably reachable from April to November. In deep winter, roughly mid-December to March, the Sangla to Chitkul road is usually snow-blocked and Chitkul's own stays mostly shut, so on winter dates Chitkul and Sangla are attempted only if the road is open that day. If they are closed, the time is spent around Kalpa and Reckong Peo, which stay accessible through winter. All mountain roads are condition based and sightseeing may be adjusted for safety.
Best time?
April to June and September to November are the smoothest windows and cover the full Sangla, Chitkul, and Kalpa circuit. December to February is the snow season: colder, more weather dependent, and best enjoyed with Kalpa and Reckong Peo as the base, since Chitkul and Sangla can be cut off by snow.

- 30 days or more before travel: 25% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
- 15 to 29 days before travel: 50% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
- Within 14 days of travel: 100% of total booking cost charged as cancellation fees.
- No-show or last-minute cancellations (after trip start) are non-refundable.
- In case of weather disruptions, government restrictions, strikes, or other force-majeure events, alternate arrangements will be offered whenever possible. However, cash refunds are not available in such scenarios.
Payment Term Policy
- A minimum 25–50% advance payment is required at the time of booking to block your slots.
- The remaining balance must be cleared at least 30 days before travel for domestic trips and 45 days before for international trips.
- Last-minute bookings (within 10 days) require 100% upfront payment at confirmation.
