Highlights

  • Full Spiti circuit on Royal Enfield Himalayan (411cc or 450cc) with 9 riding days through six valleys: Kinnaur, Baspa, Spiti, Pin, Lahaul, and Kullu. Bikes pick up and drop back in Chandigarh
  • The only Spiti bike trip in the market that gives you both a Tabo overnight and a Pin Valley ride. Most operators rush past Tabo in 20 minutes and skip Pin Valley entirely. You get an evening at a 1,000 year old monastery and a ride through snow leopard territory
  • Gradual acclimatisation that actually works: Chandigarh to Narkanda to Sangla to Kalpa to Tabo to Kaza. Your body climbs in careful steps over four days, not a single reckless altitude jump
  • Chandratal camping at the designated campsite at 14,100 ft after two nights acclimatised at Kaza. Your body is ready and the experience is everything it should be
  • Run by local Himachalis who grew up on these roads. Food from local kitchens, family run homestays, and road captains who know every turn, every gravel shift, and every chai stop that no tourist guide mentions
  • Daily SpO2 monitoring, portable oxygen, dedicated RE mechanic with spare parts, and a sweep rider behind the slowest rider. Nobody gets left behind

Know Before You Go

  • Sleep on the Volvo. Day 2 is a full riding day. The overnight Volvo IS your night's rest. Board fed, skip the late night scrolling, and sleep properly. Riders who rest well on the Volvo have the best Day 2 experience
  • There is no overnight hotel in Chandigarh. You arrive early morning by Volvo, freshen up at a day use hotel, eat breakfast, get your bike, and ride out. Keep a fresh set of clothes accessible in your bag
  • Valid motorcycle licence is mandatory for riders. Pillion riders do not need one. Non riders can join in the Backup Vehicle seat
  • Day 4 is deliberately short (100 km) for acclimatisation. Day 7 in Kaza is a sightseeing day with no luggage (80 km). Both are by design to let your body rest before the bigger days
  • Riding experience on 400cc or above is recommended for Solo Riders. If you are new to riding, choose Dual Rider or Backup Vehicle and enjoy the same Spiti experience
  • Mobile network: Jio and Airtel work until Kinnaur then drop off. BSNL postpaid works best in Spiti. ATMs are unreliable past Reckong Peo. Day 4 passes through Reckong Peo, that is your last chance to withdraw cash. Carry Rs 5,000 to 10,000
  • Pack layers: 25 degrees during the day, near zero at night at Chandratal. Thermals, riding jacket, waterproof layer, warm gloves
  • Trolley bags do not work on bike trips. Use a rucksack or duffle bag (max 15 kg). Heavy luggage goes in the backup vehicle
  • Rain coats are compulsory. July and August bring unexpected showers
  • The 450cc Himalayan upgrade is subject to availability on first come first serve. If your preferred bike is not available, the team will inform you before departure
  • Persons with asthma or serious cardiac conditions should consult their doctor before joining any high altitude bike tour

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time for this Spiti bike trip?

June to September. June and September are the sweet spots with fewer crowds and clear skies. July and August bring rain but the dramatic clouds and green patches make for incredible riding. The full Chandratal and Kunzum route typically opens by mid June.

How does Day 2 work after the overnight Volvo?

The Volvo arrives Chandigarh around 4 to 5 AM. You freshen up at a day use hotel, have a proper breakfast, get your bike allotted, and ride out by 9 AM. The Day 2 ride to Narkanda is 200 km on smooth well maintained roads. It is your introduction ride, not a challenging one. The road captain keeps the pace relaxed. We have run this across multiple batches and it works well when you treat the Volvo as your sleep time.

How is this different from the 7 day Manali Spiti bike trip?

The 7 day trip enters Spiti from Manali via Atal Tunnel and covers Lahaul to Spiti to Lahaul in 5 riding days. This trip is the full circuit. You enter through Kinnaur (Narkanda, Sangla, Chitkul, Kalpa) and exit through Lahaul (Manali), then ride the bikes back to Chandigarh. Six valleys instead of three, 9 riding days instead of 5, plus Pin Valley and a Tabo overnight.

Why do we ride the bikes back to Chandigarh instead of dropping them in Manali?

Because the bikes were picked up from Chandigarh. Riding them back completes the circle and gives you one extra riding day on smooth highway through the Kullu Valley. After nine days of mountain passes and gravel, the Manali to Chandigarh stretch feels like a victory lap. You arrive by afternoon with plenty of time for bike handover before the evening Volvo to Delhi.

How is this different from the Most Loved 10 day Spiti expedition?

Both are Delhi to Delhi trips but different routes. The Most Loved expedition enters through Manali and Jibhi with 7 riding days across 5 valleys. This trip enters through Chandigarh and Narkanda with 9 riding days across 6 valleys including Pin Valley and a Tabo overnight. Choose this one if you want the most saddle time, Pin Valley, and the full Kinnaur to Spiti circuit.

Why does this trip include Pin Valley and a Tabo overnight when others do not?

Because they matter. Most operators rush through Tabo in 20 minutes and skip Pin Valley to save a day's cost. We route through Pin Valley on the way from Tabo to Kaza, covering Dhankar, Kungri Monastery, and Mud Village in one spectacular day. And we stay overnight in Tabo because a 1,000 year old monastery deserves an evening, not a photo stop.

What are all the pricing tiers?

Himalayan 411cc Solo Rider: Rs 28,999 (MRP Rs 35,999). 411cc Dual Rider: Rs 24,999. 450cc Solo Rider: Rs 33,999. 450cc Dual Rider: Rs 29,999. Own Bike Solo: Rs 18,999. Own Bike Dual: Rs 16,999. Backup Vehicle Seat: Rs 22,999. All prices include GST, fuel, gear, stays, meals, mechanic, road captain, and permits.

Do I need to be an experienced rider?

For Solo Rider you should be comfortable on a 400cc or above motorcycle on mountain roads. The road captain assesses everyone on Day 2 and adjusts pace. If you are a beginner, choose Dual Rider or Backup Vehicle. You get the same Spiti experience without the bike pressure.

What bike will I ride?

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411cc (base) or 450cc (upgrade). The 450 has a newer engine, better suspension, and digital display. Every bike is serviced between batches. A dedicated mechanic rides with the group. Daily check up included. Bike choice is first come first serve.

Can I bring my own motorcycle?

Yes. Own Bike Solo at Rs 18,999 or Dual at Rs 16,999. We handle stays, food, road captain, mechanic, backup vehicle, and permits. We share a pre ride checklist. Own bike riders can ride to Chandigarh directly or take the Volvo and arrange their bike separately.

Is the Chandratal camping safe?

Yes. Designated campsite with proper tents, bedding, and support staff. Portable oxygen available. The camp is at 14,100 ft. By this point you have had six nights of gradual altitude build up (Narkanda, Sangla, Kalpa, Tabo, two in Kaza) so your body is well prepared.

Can I join from Chandigarh directly?

Yes. If you are from Chandigarh, Punjab, or Haryana, self arrive at the base hotel on Day 2 morning by 7 AM for breakfast, bike allotment, and the ride out. Let the team know in advance.

Can solo travellers join?

Absolutely. Most riders are solo travellers joining a group. The batch model is built for this. You start with strangers and finish with riding buddies. 12 riders max per batch.

What about mobile network and ATMs?

Jio and Airtel work until Kinnaur then drop off. BSNL postpaid works best in Spiti. ATMs are unreliable past Reckong Peo. Day 4 passes through Reckong Peo, use that stop to withdraw cash. Carry Rs 5,000 to 10,000.

How do I book?

Pay Rs 5,000 booking amount to lock your seat. Balance due 30 days before departure. 7 days before the trip we add you to the batch WhatsApp group. Delhi riders show up at the Volvo boarding point on Day 1 evening. Chandigarh riders show up at the base hotel on Day 2 morning by 7 AM.
