Know Before You Go

  • Leh sits at 11,500 ft. Day 1 is strictly for acclimatization. Do not skip it, do not rush it, and avoid any physical exertion on arrival day
  • Stay hydrated throughout the trip. Aim for 3 to 4 litres of water daily and avoid alcohol completely in the first 48 hours
  • Carry warm layers even in summer. Nights at Pangong and Nubra can drop to near freezing temperatures regardless of the season
  • Mobile network works in Leh town (Jio and Airtel postpaid). Signal is limited or absent at Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and en route to the passes
  • ATMs are available only in Leh. Carry sufficient cash for personal expenses, activities, and tips before leaving the city
  • Pack sunscreen SPF 50+, UV protective sunglasses, lip balm, and heavy moisturizer. The sun at altitude is intense and deceptive
  • Pangong stays operate in permitted village belts such as Spangmik and Merak. Camping on the immediate shoreline is not allowed
  • Only Leh registered vehicles can operate sightseeing and Nubra/Pangong routes. Your package vehicle fully complies with this regulation

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a group tour or a private tour?

This is a fully private tour. You get your own vehicle, your own driver, and your own schedule. There is no sharing with other travellers and no fixed departure dates. You can start on any day that works for you.

Why is Day 1 only for acclimatization and not sightseeing?

Leh sits at 11,500 ft. Your body needs time to adjust to the lower oxygen levels. Skipping acclimatization or rushing into activity on arrival day increases the risk of altitude sickness. Rest, hydration, and a slow start are the safest way to begin your Ladakh trip.

Is Pangong Lake accessible in April?

Yes. Pangong is reachable from early April onwards once flights to Leh resume. The lake may have partial ice cover in early April, which is actually stunning to see. Full thaw usually happens by mid May.

How cold does it get at Pangong and Nubra even in summer?

Daytime temperatures at Pangong and Nubra can feel pleasant in summer, around 15 to 20 degrees. But nights drop sharply, often reaching near freezing or below zero. Carry thermals, a windproof jacket, warm socks, and proper layering regardless of the month.

What about mobile network and ATM access in Ladakh?

Jio and Airtel postpaid SIMs work in Leh town. Outside Leh, including Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and the high passes, network is extremely limited or completely absent. ATMs are only in Leh. Carry enough cash before you leave the city for activities, tips, and personal expenses.

Do you provide oxygen support on this trip?

Yes. An emergency oxygen cylinder is carried in the vehicle throughout the trip. It is available if anyone needs altitude support. This is a precautionary measure and not a substitute for professional medical treatment.

What if weather or road conditions disrupt the itinerary?

Mountain roads in Ladakh can be affected by weather, landslides, or military movement. If any route becomes unsafe, the driver and on ground team will adjust the plan to the safest workable alternative. For example, if the Shyok route is closed, the team may reroute via Wari La or Chang La.

Do you include camel rides or rafting?

Adventure activities like Bactrian camel rides at Hunder, rafting at Sangam, and ATV rides are available locally and payable directly at the spot. These are not included in the package price so you only pay for what you actually want to do.

Can we add Hanle, Turtuk, or Umlingla to this itinerary?

Yes. Extensions to Hanle for stargazing, Turtuk for the Balti village experience, or Umlingla for the highest motorable road can be added. These require extra days, permits, and costs. Let the team know at the time of booking.

Is this suitable for first time Ladakh travellers?

Absolutely. This itinerary is built for first timers. The pacing allows proper acclimatization on Day 1, builds gradually through Leh sightseeing, and then takes you to Nubra and Pangong once your body is ready. A private vehicle means you travel at your own comfort level.
