Itinerary

Your driver picks you up from Leh Airport and takes you straight to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to sleep, hydrate, and let your body get used to the altitude. Leh is at 11,500 ft and the air is noticeably thinner here. Do not plan anything strenuous. If you feel good by evening, a short walk up to Shanti Stupa gives you your first Ladakh sunset with panoramic views of the valley. Keep dinner early and get a full night of sleep. Tomorrow, the sightseeing begins.

Know Before You Go

  • Leh is at 11,500 ft above sea level. Your first day is purely for rest and acclimatization. Please do not skip this, your body genuinely needs it
  • Drink at least 3 to 4 litres of water every day. Avoid alcohol completely for the first 48 hours after landing in Leh
  • Even in summer, Pangong nights can drop to near freezing or below zero. Pack thermals, a warm jacket, gloves, and layered clothing
  • Your phone will work in Leh town (Jio and Airtel postpaid). Once you leave for Pangong and Chang La, expect little to no signal
  • ATMs are only available in Leh town. Carry enough cash for tips, entry tickets, snacks, and any activities you want to do
  • Day 4 is a packed day: Pangong sunrise, return drive over Chang La, monastery visits, and then airport transfer. Please book an evening or late afternoon flight so there is no rush
  • Carry sunscreen (SPF 50+), UV sunglasses, lip balm, and a good moisturizer. The high altitude sun feels mild but burns fast
  • Pangong lakeside stays are in approved village areas like Spangmik or Merak. Camping directly on the shoreline is not permitted

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 4 days really enough to experience Ladakh?

Yes, if your goal is a focused first taste. You get a proper acclimatization day, a full Leh sightseeing circuit, one incredible night at Pangong Lake, and monastery visits on the way back. If you want to add Nubra Valley, you can upgrade to the 6 day package. For Nubra plus Turtuk village, the 7 day package is ideal.

Is this a group tour or a private tour?

This is 100% private. You get your own vehicle, your own driver, and complete flexibility on pace and stops. There are no other travellers in your car and no fixed group departure dates. You choose when to go.

Why do we spend the entire first day just resting?

Because Leh is at 11,500 ft and your body needs time to adjust to the thinner air. Rushing into sightseeing on arrival day is the number one cause of altitude sickness. Resting on Day 1 means you feel strong and comfortable for the rest of the trip. If you feel fine by evening, a short walk to Shanti Stupa for sunset is a beautiful way to ease in.

What time should I book my return flight on Day 4?

Book an evening or late afternoon flight from Leh. Day 4 starts with Pangong sunrise, followed by a 5 hour return drive via Chang La, then stops at Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace before the airport transfer. A morning or early afternoon flight will not work with this itinerary.

How cold does it get at Pangong Lake even in summer?

During the day it feels comfortable, around 15 to 20 degrees. But once the sun sets, temperatures drop fast and can reach near zero or below, even in July. Carry thermals, a proper windproof jacket, warm socks, and gloves. The camp provides blankets but your own warm layers make a big difference.

Will my phone work at Pangong?

Most likely not. Jio and Airtel postpaid SIMs work in Leh town, but once you head towards Chang La and Pangong, signal is extremely weak or absent. Download offline maps before leaving Leh and let your family know you will be out of reach for about 24 hours.

Is there oxygen support available on this trip?

Yes. An emergency oxygen cylinder is kept in the vehicle throughout the trip. Your driver is trained to use it if anyone feels unwell at altitude. This is a safety precaution and not a replacement for medical treatment. If you have any pre existing conditions, consult your doctor before booking a high altitude trip.

Can I extend this trip to include Nubra Valley?

Absolutely. You can upgrade to the 6 day Leh Ladakh Classic Loop which adds Khardung La pass, Nubra Valley with Diskit Monastery and Hunder sand dunes. Or choose the 7 day package to also visit Turtuk, India's last village before the Pakistan border.

Is this a good option for a long weekend?

This trip is built for exactly that. Fly in on Thursday evening, rest Friday, sightsee Saturday, Pangong on Sunday, and fly back Sunday evening or Monday. It works perfectly for working professionals who cannot take a full week off but still want a real Ladakh experience.

What happens if roads are blocked due to weather or landslides?

Mountain roads can be unpredictable. If the Chang La route is not safe, your driver and our on ground team will reroute or adjust the plan based on real time conditions. We always prioritise your safety over sticking to a fixed schedule.
