Spiti Explorer Group Tour With Chandratal From Manali

Three nights in Kaza make the trip calmer and safer. You get time to adjust to the altitude, do the full village circuit on one day, and the Tabo and Dhankar heritage day on another, all from the same base, without packing and moving hotels each day.

The Manali night lets you rest after the overnight Volvo before the long drive to Kaza. It also gives you time to see Manali, so you start the harder mountain section feeling fresh.

A dedicated trip captain travels with every Social batch and Full batch, which are groups above 10 people. The captain leads the trip and looks after the group from start to finish. Smaller Micro and Small batches, up to 10 people, are looked after by a trip coordinator and an experienced local driver.

The full circuit is planned as one day and covers Key Monastery, Kibber village, Chicham Bridge, Komik village, Hikkim, and Langza. The order may change based on the road, weather, and daylight.

On Day 5 you visit Tabo Monastery, one of the oldest in the Himalayas, and Dhankar Monastery on its cliff, done as a day trip from Kaza. Tabo is about 48 to 50 km from Kaza, and Dhankar sits between Tabo and Kaza on a short branch road from Schichling, which makes it practical to see both and return to the same Kaza hotel.

No. This trip covers Tabo Monastery and Dhankar Monastery on the Day 5 trip. It does not include Pin Valley, Mud Village, Gue Monastery, Dhankar Lake, or the Tabo caves. We keep the days practical and not rushed, so we are honest about this upfront.

It is a long and adventurous drive of about 8 to 10 hours on Day 3. Some parts around Chhatru, Batal, and Kunzum Pass are rough and uneven. Rest well the night before in Manali, carry snacks, and stay hydrated.

The walk is about 1.5 km each way from the parking point. The exact distance can change with parking rules and the road. The trail is rocky and uneven, so proper walking shoes are strongly recommended.

The camping night is planned at the marked camping zone near Chandratal. But the camp is small and depends on the season and weather. If it is full, or if the group wants more comfort like senior citizen or family groups, you stay in a hotel or guesthouse in Losar, the last village before Kunzum Pass. This is always told to you in advance.

Yes. You still visit Chandratal Lake even if you sleep in Losar. It always depends on a safe road, daylight, and weather.

If Chandratal cannot be reached due to weather, road blocks, or official rules, the team arranges the safest practical alternative. Any extra stay, transport, or route cost may be payable separately.

A hotel in Manali, and a hotel, guesthouse, or homestay in Kaza for three nights at the same place. The Chandratal stay is a basic seasonal camp with double or quad sharing tents, a mess tent, and shared or common toilets, because the place is remote.

5 breakfasts and 5 dinners on the stay nights, so 10 meals in total on the MAP plan. Meals start with dinner on Day 2 and end with breakfast on Day 7. Lunches, snacks, drinks, and Volvo meals are not included.

Single occupancy can usually be booked for the Manali and Kaza hotels at an extra cost. A private single tent near Chandratal depends on campsite availability and cannot be promised.

Yes. You can start from Delhi, Chandigarh, or Manali. Chandigarh saves about Rs 1,000 per person and Manali saves about Rs 2,000 per person, since you skip part or all of the Volvo ride. For the Manali option, the shared journey begins and ends at the Manali meeting point. Tell the team your start point when you book.

The trip usually runs from mid June to mid September. The exact dates depend on Kunzum Pass, the Chandratal road, the weather, and seasonal camp availability.

Network is weak in Kaza, where BSNL works best, and gone at Chandratal. ATMs and online payments are not reliable, so carry enough cash, about Rs 5,000 to 7,000, for the full trip.
