Know Before You Go
- Acclimatization: Spend ~48 hours in Leh before higher‑altitude excursions (Khardung La/Chang La belts); keep Days 1–2 light
- Permits: ILP & local fees are paid online; carry e‑permits, boarding pass, and a photo ID for check posts
- Flights & buffers: Winter ops are weather‑permitting — keep buffer time for onward connections
- Mobile network: Indian postpaid (Airtel/BSNL/Jio) works best; coverage is patchy beyond town
- Pass closures: If a pass shuts, we swap to scenic low‑altitude plans (Stok, Spituk, old town, cafés/museums) and re‑attempt if conditions improve
- Packing: Thermals, fleece/down jacket, beanie & gloves, waterproof boots with good grip, UV sunglasses (snow glare), SPF & lip balm, small cash
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 3N/4D enough for winter Ladakh?
Yes — it suits a calm Leh‑focused break with a pass attempt if conditions allow. For a confident Pangong plan, add a night in shoulder months.
Will we definitely reach Khardung La?
Only if BRO opens the pass and police allow tourist movement that morning. We decide on the day and resequence if needed.
Can we include a Pangong day?
Sometimes — if Chang La is open and you feel well, Day 3 can swap to a Pangong day attempt (longer drive hours).
Do hotels include full heating?
Standard hotels use central heating or room heaters per policy (some dates may be chargeable). We brief this at booking for zero surprises.
Will my phone work?
Expect good signal in Leh town; very patchy beyond. Postpaid Airtel/BSNL/Jio recommended.
