- Flying is sensible in core winter: Highways may shut; flights operate weather-permitting — keep buffers for onward connections
- Mobile & money: Only Indian postpaid SIMs (Airtel/Jio/BSNL) work reliably; coverage is limited outside town — download offline maps and carry some cash
- Pangong rules: Stays operate in permitted village belts (e.g., Spangmik/Merak) when routes are open; no immediate-shoreline camping

Only if the pass is open and tourist movement is allowed. If not, we switch to our curated Plan-B that’s still scenic and culture-rich.
Can Pangong be done in 4 days?
Sometimes — only if Chang La is open and conditions are safe. It’s a long winter day; we’ll advise honestly the morning of travel.
Do luxury hotels include full heating?
Most 4★/5★ properties provide central/room heating in peak winter; on shoulder dates, a supplement may apply — we brief this upfront.
Is oxygen available?
We keep an oximeter handy; portable oxygen cylinders can be arranged on request (chargeable).
