Leh is at 11,500 ft. Day 1 is purely for rest and acclimatization. Your body genuinely needs it before the higher altitude days ahead
Drink at least 3 to 4 litres of water every day and avoid alcohol completely for the first 48 hours after landing
Day 5 is the longest drive day on this trip (8 to 9 hours from Pangong to Tso Moriri via Chushul and Kaksang La). We start early to arrive with daylight
Tso Moriri stays are in basic camps or guesthouses near Korzok village. Rooms are simple with home cooked meals. This is a remote high altitude location, not hotel territory
There are no ATMs, no restaurants, and no mobile network at Tso Moriri. Carry enough cash and personal supplies before leaving Leh

How is Tso Moriri different from Pangong Lake?

Pangong is famous and sees more tourists. The lake is spectacular but the camps around it can feel busy in peak season. Tso Moriri is the opposite. It is remote, pristine, and barely visited. The lake sits at 4,522 metres surrounded by snow peaks with rare wildlife including black necked cranes. If Pangong is Ladakh's famous face, Tso Moriri is its quiet soul. This trip gives you both.

Is this the same route as the Turtuk package?

No. The Turtuk package goes west from Nubra towards the Pakistan border. This package goes south from Pangong through the Changthang plateau towards Tso Moriri. They are completely different destinations and routes.

Can I combine Turtuk and Tso Moriri in one trip?

Why is Day 1 only for rest?

Leh is at 11,500 ft and your body needs time to adjust to the thinner air. Rushing into sightseeing on arrival day is the number one cause of altitude sickness. Resting on Day 1 means you feel strong for the rest of the trip, especially the high altitude days at Pangong and Tso Moriri.

How long is the Day 5 drive from Pangong to Tso Moriri?

Day 5 is the longest drive at 8 to 9 hours through Chushul, across Kaksang La Pass at 17,851 ft, and past several stunning lesser known lakes including Mirpal Tso, Yaya Tso, and Kyagar Tso. We start early after a Pangong sunrise to arrive at Tso Moriri with daylight. The drive itself is one of the most scenic in all of Ladakh.

What are the stays like at Tso Moriri?

Tso Moriri stays are in basic camps or guesthouses near Korzok village. The rooms are simple with proper bedding and home cooked meals. This is a remote high altitude location and hotel grade accommodation does not exist here. But the setting, right next to one of the most beautiful lakes in the Himalayas, more than makes up for it.

What about mobile network and ATMs?

Your phone will work in Leh town. Beyond that, including Nubra, Pangong, and especially Tso Moriri, expect very limited to zero signal. ATMs are only in Leh. Carry enough cash for the entire trip before you leave the city.

Do you provide oxygen support?

Yes. An emergency oxygen cylinder is carried in the vehicle throughout the trip. It is available if anyone needs altitude support. This is a precautionary measure and not a replacement for medical treatment.

What if weather or road conditions disrupt the route?

Mountain roads in Ladakh can be affected by weather, landslides, or military movement. If the Chushul or Kaksang La route is not safe, the driver and on ground team will adjust the plan to the safest alternative. We always prioritise your safety over sticking to a fixed schedule.
