What Is Manali Weather Like in December?

December weather here changes a lot from year to year. The numbers tell the story better than any promise.

In December 2025, IMD recorded Manali's highest maximum at 18.4°C on December 15. The lowest minimum that month was 1.1°C on December 6. Monthly rainfall was 0.0 mm, meaning a dry month with no measurable snow or rain recorded.

December 2024 looked different. The highest maximum was 17.9°C on December 16, and the lowest minimum dropped to −2.8°C on December 10. That month recorded 87.0 mm of rainfall, a much wetter and snowier season.

These are extremes and monthly totals, not daily averages. So do not read "18.4°C" and pack light. That was the single warmest afternoon of the month.

Solang Valley

Solang Valley is the usual snow excursion from Manali. When there is snow, this is where you go to play in it and try activities.

After frost or snowfall, the paths turn slippery. Wear shoes with grip and walk carefully, especially with older travellers.

Old Manali and Mall Road

Mall Road is the easy choice for evening walks, shopping, and food. Everything is close and walkable.

Old Manali is the café zone, good for slow mornings and coffee. But in December many places cut their hours, so check whether your favourite spot is even open before you walk up.

Vashisht village

Vashisht has an old temple and a natural hot-water spring area, which feels great in the cold. It is a short trip from town.

Day 4: Naggar or conditional Sissu excursion

Go to Naggar if the tunnel route is restricted or overcrowded. It is the reliable clear-road option.
