Itinerary

Your trip starts in the evening. Board your overnight Volvo or Tempo Traveller, the vehicle confirmed for your departure, and settle in for the ride to the hills. You travel through the night and reach Dharamshala in the morning, so there is no night driving of your own and you save a full day. Know Before You Go

  • Transport: Overnight travel between your origin and Dharamshala, both ways, is by Volvo as our first choice, with a Tempo Traveller on some peak dates so the whole group travels together. The vehicle is confirmed with you before the trip and the price is the same either way, so it is not an individual pick. Inside Dharamshala we use a shared SUV or MUV, or a Tempo Traveller for the bigger batches, by group size. Your coordinator shares the boarding point and reporting time for your departure
  • Delhi boarding is usually in the early evening from the standard boarding points. Chandigarh boarding may be the same evening or after midnight, confirmed with you before travel. All times in the plan are rough guesses
  • A dedicated trip captain travels with the bigger Social and Full batches, groups above 10 people. Smaller batches have a trip coordinator and the local driver, and a local guide joins for the Triund trek day
  • The Triund day is a steady uphill walk of several hours on an uneven trail, not a hard trek. Carry water, wear grippy shoes and go at your own pace. Reaching the viewpoint depends on the weather and the group's pace
  • Camping is at an organised campsite below Triund, not on the hilltop. Tents, sleeping bags and mats are shared, toilets are basic and shared, and we share the exact campsite and tent arrangements before you book
  • The optional Dharamkot walk depends on your arrival timing, daylight and energy. The HPCA Cricket Stadium stop depends on tourist access, the descent timing and traffic, and entry tickets are extra. Catching your return bus takes priority
  • If trekking or camping cannot operate after snow or bad weather, we explain the available alternative and any accommodation or cost difference before proceeding
  • This is a budget group trip with a simple hotel and basic camping. Hotel check in is usually around noon, and we arrange an early check in on arrival where possible, subject to availability
  • Please share any dietary requirements before booking so we can confirm what the hotel and campsite can provide, and carry some cash for meals, cafes and entries
  • Pack light with a soft bag and a small daypack for the trek. Carry warm layers for the evenings, which stay cool even in the warmer months, and heavier warm clothes in the colder months

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days is this McLeodganj and Triund group trip?

Can I join from Delhi or Chandigarh, and what is the price difference?

Yes. You can choose Delhi to Delhi or Chandigarh to Chandigarh while booking. Chandigarh is one thousand rupees less per person than Delhi for the same sharing option, because the road leg is shorter. The destination plan, stays, meals and local arrangements stay the same.

What are the prices for each sharing option?

From Delhi, quad sharing is Rs 6,499, triple is Rs 7,299 and double is Rs 7,999 per person for a full batch. From Chandigarh, quad is Rs 5,499, triple is Rs 6,299 and double is Rs 6,999 per person. Quad means four guests share a hotel room, triple means three and double means two. Smaller group sizes cost a little more per person. Tent sharing at camp is arranged separately and confirmed before booking.

Is GST included in the price?

Yes. The price you see is per person and includes all applicable taxes, including 5% GST, so the amount shown is the amount you pay. There is no separate tax added at the end.

Do we get a trip captain?

A dedicated trip captain travels with every Social batch and Full batch, which are groups above 10 people, leading the trip and looking after the group from start to finish. Smaller Micro and Small batches, up to 10 people, are looked after by a trip coordinator and an experienced local driver. A local guide joins for the Triund trek and camping day.

What vehicle and group size can I expect?

Overnight travel between your origin and Dharamshala is by Volvo or Tempo Traveller. Inside Dharamshala, a shared SUV or MUV runs the local driving for the smaller groups, and a Tempo Traveller for the bigger Social and Full batches, based on group size. Groups go from Micro, 3 to 5 people, up to a Full batch of 16 to 20. Room sharing can be quad, triple or double.

Can I choose between the Volvo and the Tempo Traveller?

Overnight travel between your origin and Dharamshala is by Volvo as our first choice. On some peak dates we run a Tempo Traveller instead so the whole group travels together. It is not an individual pick, the price is the same either way, and we confirm the vehicle with you before departure.

Is the Triund trek suitable for beginners?

Beginners with suitable fitness can join. The Triund day is a steady uphill walk of several hours on an uneven trail, not a hard trek. The local guide sets an easy pace with breaks, but you should be comfortable spending a good part of the day walking. You can go at your own pace.

Where do we camp during the trip?

After the Triund viewpoint, we descend to a confirmed organised campsite below Triund before dark. You stay in shared tents with sleeping bags and mats. Toilets are basic and shared. We share the exact campsite and tent arrangements before you book. We do not camp on the Triund hilltop itself.

What meals are included?

You get 6 meals in total: breakfast and dinner on the hotel day, breakfast, a packed lunch and dinner on the trek and camp day, and breakfast on the descent morning. Lunch on the sightseeing day and the descent day, the final dinner, snacks, drinks and any meals during the overnight journeys are paid directly. McLeodganj and Bhagsu have nice cafes for lunch.

Can I freshen up before check in and after the trek?

Yes. Shared freshening facilities are included on the morning you arrive, and shared day use rooms are arranged after the trek on the descent day. Your overnight room is allotted at the hotel's usual check in time, generally around noon, and we arrange an early check in on arrival where possible, subject to availability. Private early check in or a private day use room is extra.

Where can I leave my main luggage during the trek?

Leave your main bag in the hotel's agreed storage during the trek and collect it afterwards. Carry a smaller overnight backpack with your essentials for camping, and keep your valuables with you.

What is covered in McLeodganj and Dharamshala?

The main sightseeing is on foot around McLeodganj and Bhagsu, covering the Dalai Lama Temple complex and Namgyal Monastery, the McLeodganj and Bhagsu markets, Bhagsu Nag Temple and the cafes, followed by an evening drive to the Naddi viewpoint for sunset. An optional Dharamkot walk can be added if time and daylight allow. A short HPCA Cricket Stadium stop is planned on the descent day if access, the descent and traffic allow, and entry tickets are extra.

Is the Dharamkot walk part of the fixed plan?

The Dharamkot village walk is optional and can be added in the late afternoon before the Naddi drive, if your arrival timing, daylight and energy allow. It is an uphill walk to a quiet village with more cafes. If you would rather rest, you can use that time for McLeodganj or Bhagsu cafes instead. Cafe bills and any optional taxi are paid directly.

What if the weather affects the trek or camping?

The captain and local guide adjust the plan to the trail access and conditions on the day. If trekking or camping cannot operate after snow or bad weather, we explain the available alternative and any accommodation or cost difference before proceeding. Safety always comes first, and all times are rough guesses.

What should I pack?

Comfortable walking or trekking shoes with good grip and spare socks, a small overnight backpack for the trek and a main bag for hotel storage, warm layers and a windproof or rainproof outer layer, a torch or headlamp, a charged phone and power bank, a reusable water bottle, personal toiletries and your regular medicines, sun protection, identification and some cash for personal expenses. Please also carry a bag to bring your waste back down.
